The following quote encapsulates my overall philosophy: "How far you go in life depends on your being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged and sympathetic with the weak because sometime in life you will have been all three."

Every time I have fallen down in my life, I have gotten up, dusted myself off, and tried again. I am a survivor.

I have worked hard to become the person I am now, someone who is content with who I am, optimistic about the future, and passionate about the things and people that matter most.

During my divorce in 2006 I won sole custody of my oldest son and I left Wall Street to become a full time single parent. He is now 18 and I have become an entrepreneur with 2 different businesses. To be completely honest, I don't make a lot of money at the moment because both businesses are new but I am very proud of what I am doing. I am the Executive Director of a philanthropic organization that works to reduce the pain of divorce on children and the CEO of a vegan food company. Success, for me, has come to mean making a contribution to society and having the freedom to do what I want, which usually involves spending time with loved ones.

I have led an interesting life thus far because I've never been afraid to take chances... some have worked out; others have not. I have tattoos, I have scars, I have baggage. If you are looking for a "nice guy", trust me, I'm not him. I am however; secure enough to be vulnerable, strong enough to be gentle, and wise enough to be humble.

The woman I want to be with will have also led an interesting life. This life experience will have caused her to develop certain attributes that manifest themselves in a particular way. This list is by no means all-inclusive, nor do I expect anyone to have all of these traits. They’re just indicative of the type of person I think I would get along with best. Some of those qualities are:

- She is both street smart and educated because there is a difference and both are important.
- She is confident and assertive because she is a woman of substance, and capable of being my equal partner.
- She is sensual and passionate because she needs it as much as I do.
- She knows that money doesn’t buy happiness because she has had the toys it can buy and still felt empty inside.
- She doesn't expect my children to be perfect because she has experienced the pain of her own child’s failure.
- She has at least one tattoo because she thinks they are sexy and will appreciate the several I have myself.
- She does yoga because she feels it’s the perfect way for her to express her athleticism and sensuality at the same time.
- She lives a healthy lifestyle but may smoke an occasional cigarette because she still has a “bad girl” edge.
- She is interested in politics because she cares about the society we live in and wants to make it a better place.

But then again...

I once read that at the end of the day, "in spite of all the things we claim we want in a significant other, the people we chose tend to defy those very lists. In the end, it's the smoldering look, the punch to the gut, the fire in the loins and the fluttering in the heart".

And… as one woman pointed out, “Tattoos can be bought, yoga can be taught and there is always CNN to learn about politics.”

So who knows...?
