I am a counselor to dual-diagnosis mental health patients, so empathy is a must, but I'm hardly a fern fondling crystal gripper (those expressions always make me laugh!).

I love ridiculous, surreal humor (The Brak Show, Ren and Stimpy, Kung Pao:Enter the Fist, etc.), as well as high-brow comedy such as Eddie Izzard.

I appreciate girly-ness/femininity (there is something slightly mesmerizing about watching a woman simply be a woman...fix her hair, put on make up...it's like watching a deer move through the forest: you may not know what it's doing, but it's pretty to look at anyway), but like a girl who's just as willing to go on a road trip to Yosemite as she is to hang out in San Francisco clubs drinking. I love "dive" bars, and frequent them more often than I do "clubs, " but I've been known to dance when the music and company is right. I am just as happy ordering a plate of gnocchi in cream sauce and a fine wine as I am a delicious breakfast burrito and a coffee.

I am moderately fit (i.e. I, unlike most males, hate sports and don't play them, so I'm forced to hit the gym three times a week to maintain a presentable physic), well muscled, and completely bald (:(P)!

I am currently looking into nurse practitioner programs as I want to become a nurse/counselor...that also explains my low salary.

I love music (From Tool to Otis Redding, Sarah MacLaughlin to Tracy Chapman, and Massive Attack to Enya), but have a limited tolerance for most rap (True hip-hop, like Roots, Tribe, Immortal Technique, etc...when it's poetry set to beat, is cool).

I'm fairly artistic (I Draw in pencil, pen, charcoal, limited pastel work), but I'm not the flaky, ephemeral artist type. I'm goofy and have a wide range of ridiculous voices and imitations to choose from, but am also a big fan of serious conversation. I am rather poor at shallow, chit-chat style conversation, and can't lie, but I'm not completely tactless and boorish...though I do prefer no nonsense, unpretentious folk to high-class image minders. I guess I would just prefer to know where I stand than to try and present a stance.

I am fairly well traveled, having spent time in most of Europe, sailed through Indonesia and the Caribbean, traipsed through most of Mexico, and just returned from volunteering in Africa. The experiences in those different places, cultures, and climes have left me open to many points of view, and tolerant of most things save willful ignorance. I'd like to meet someone who has something to say, and ideas to debate, but a mind that is open and interested. I would love to meet someone who loves to read quietly, drink raucously, eat happily, talk animatedly and with heart, travel widely, and play the occasional video game (:(P)!

This is an interesting and difficult question. It would depend on the woman, the amount of input she had, and her likes and dislikes. Obviously, if she's a tatted up rock and roll chick, I'm hardly taking her out to a fine restaurant and delicious confectioners (unless she's one of the few who are into that, one never knows) for quiet conversations about where she's gone and what she thought about it. Conversely, if she's a silicon valley marketeer, I likely won't drag her to the local, homey greasy spoon for some burgers, fries, and "poor service" anecdotes shouted across a checkered table (unless she's into that kind of thing, for as I said: one never knows). I'm about as easy going in that category as one can get, and need only be around someone I find interesting and delightful to be comfortable and interesting company. I am mildly old-fashioned in so much as I insist on paying for the check (I won't order for you or anything nutty, but I will open the door for you).

Surfing, living in a foreign country...and many other things I just can't think of right now.
